PTSO Update

Hello Avenger Parents, Alliance Academy had a really smooth takeoff this week and so did the PTSO!!! Thank you again to everyone that bought a T-shirt, took an information card, donated to and helped out with the Teacher’s Breakfast…thank you, thank you, thank you for getting us off the ground. This summer the Board of Directors worked hard to get everything in line for the incorporation of AAI-PTSO, completed our application for non-profit status (501c3 tax-exemption), set up our accounting system, and developed our financial processes. In addition, a lot of time and thought was put into building our website to make sure that our members have a one-stop shop regarding all things PTSO and our social media was also established. Thank you to the board members for all of your time, hard work and dedication this summer to make sure the inauguration of the Alliance Academy for Innovation PTSO got off to a great start! The Marketing/Fundraising Team had their inaugural meeting last week and it went very well. The meeting was full of great ideas and a ton of enthusiasm to get the ball rolling. A follow-up meeting will be held on Thursday, August 9th at 6:30 pm at Alliance. If anyone would like to join the team please come on out to the meeting! The Marketing Team co-chairs Kelly Douglas and Sandra Apoian opened the meeting and allowed me to share an update with the group…the PTSO is currently in a holding pattern regarding fundraising and the like. We are awaiting confirmation of our non-profit status which we need in order to take in donations and execute fundraisers. Having stated that, we do currently have boots on the ground gleaning community information, collecting applications and talking to small business owners about talents and resources that may be contributed to the PTSO this year. The marketing team will be busy over the next several weeks setting up multiple fundraising and networking opportunities so that when we get the green light we are able to execute plans immediately. At this time, we are also working closely with Principal Cannizzaro to develop a process for fundraising approval to ensure alignment with the school’s vision. Our goal is to be as unique a PTSO as Alliance is a school. What we need from Alliance parents right now is for you to register on our website, ‘like’ our Facebook page ‘PTSO Alliance Academy for Innovation’, and follow our Twitter #AAIPTSO, so we are able to reach out to you throughout the year with updates and event information. Please pass on this information to everyone you know at Alliance. Thank you for your patience as we allow the administration and teachers time to settle in and time for us to plan as we await confirmation of our non-profit status. Please feel free to send us an email with your ideas or suggestions to We will review every email and execute what is possible at this time. We look forward to living, learning and growing as an organization and becoming a meaningful source of support for Alliance Academy for Innovation. Make it a great day, Elaine M. Francel Ed.D President AAI-PTSO
